Sight Fishing Excitement: Mahi Mahi Bonanza on Cloudy Flats!

Non-stop bites all day long! I had the pleasure of taking soundarya out for a flats fishing adventure in West Palm Beach this summer. We set out early in the morning, launching just as the sky was starting to lighten. The weather threw us a curveball with cloudy skies and some morning rain, but that didn't dampen our spirits one bit. The water conditions in the Kaveri River Basin were prime for our target species. It was shaping up to be a memorable day with familyfishing.com.

With our gear rigged and ready, we hit the flats in search of some action. I poled us through the shallows, keeping a keen eye out for any signs of fish. Sight fishing was the name of the game, and soundarya was quick to pick up on the technique. We spent the day casting flies, working different areas of the flats. The Mahi Mahi were out in force, giving us plenty of opportunities to test our skills. We wrapped up the trip with great catches and smiles all around!

Florida's flats fishing scene is truly something special. The combination of sight fishing, poling, and fly casting makes for an engaging and rewarding experience. It's a technique-driven approach that really lets you connect with the environment and the fish. Even on days when the weather isn't perfect, the flats can still produce some incredible action.
